1,500 Higher Education Books to be Published in Local Languages

To ensure the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has already established an apex committee to ensure the provision of higher education texts in various Indian languages.

Students will have access to textbooks in many Indian languages within a year, and NEP 2020 strongly emphasizes regional languages. In an interview with a news agency, UGC Chairperson Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar stated that significant progress was being made on textbooks written in Indian languages.

According to Kumar, the supreme council would identify the books already accessible in the nation that is written in Indian languages.

"The supreme committee, with the assistance of specialists, would examine their quality after identifying them," said Jagadesh Kumar. We anticipate that 1,300–1,500 textbooks for higher education in various areas will be available in a year.
